Lily E. Johnson

Baccalaureate Speaker

Lily E. Johnson has been named Baccalaureate Speaker. She will deliver an address at the Senior Awards Ceremony, immediately following the Baccalaureate Mass on Sunday, June 2 at Cheverus High School.

While at Cheverus, Johnson was a four-year member of the Best Buddies Club and
a three-year member of the Key Club.

Johnson received the Cheverus Award her freshman year, is a member of the National Honor Society, and will graduate among the top ten in her class.

Johnson is a standout student-athlete. She was a four-year starter on the varsity field hockey team and served as captain her junior and senior years. The team won the Class A state championship her sophomore and senior years. She received numerous accolades throughout her high school career, including Rookie of the Year, Champion Award, the Stag Award, and MVP Award; and was named to the all-state and the national field hockey coaches regional team three years in a row. Johnson was named Miss Maine Field Hockey, a first for Cheverus, her senior year. She was also a four-year starter on the varsity ice hockey team and was captain her senior year. The team won back-to-back state championships her junior and senior years. Johnson received the Stag Award, the Hobey Baker Award, and was a Becky Schaffer Award semi-finalist. She was named to the all-conference team her first three years, and the all-state team her senior year.

Outside of school, she is an active volunteer coach for Coastal Field Hockey Club.

Johnson is the daughter of Anna Donatelli and Tom Johnson of Portland. She plans to attend Boston University where she will play field hockey. 

lauren kutz

Lauren Grace Kutz

Salutatorian

Lauren Grace Kutz has been named Salutatorian of the Cheverus Class of 2024. She will deliver an address at the Senior Awards Ceremony, immediately following the Baccalaureate Mass on Sunday, June 2 at Cheverus High School.

While at Cheverus, Kutz was a three-year member of the Key Club, serving as treasurer her junior year and vice president her senior year. She was a three-year member of the Environmental Action Club, serving as treasurer her junior year and president her senior year. Kutz was a member of the Math team for three years and attended the Swan’s Island Immersion her junior year.

She was a four-year member of the field hockey team, playing varsity her senior when the team won the Class A state championship. In addition, she was a four-year member of the tennis team, playing varsity her last three years.  

Kutz is a member of the National Honor Society and an AP Scholar. She received the Cheverus Award and the Harvard Book Award her junior year.

Outside of school, Kutz is an active volunteer at St. Brigid School, where she worked with students in the Girls Who Code Club her senior year, and co-founded the STEM club for third and fourth graders her junior year. In addition, she has tap danced at Maine State Ballet since first grade.

Kutz is the daughter of Dr. Katherine Marciniszyn and Dr. Richard Kutz of Portland. She plans to attend Dartmouth College in the fall and study science.
