- Cheverus covers the cost of insuring your tuition in the event that a student withdraws after 14 days of enrollment.
- Cheverus Tuition Assistance awards are GRANTS and do NOT need to be repaid
- “Applicant” and “Co-Applicant” refer to the parent(s)
- In the case of a two household family, each parent must complete a separate application reflecting each individual financial situation
- Families must re-apply for Tuition Assistance each year. Unless circumstances have changed significantly for the better (inheritance, bonus, promotion, etc.), it is reasonable to expect a similar grant from year to year
In order to complete your Tuition Assistance Application you will need:
- Copy of your 2023 – IRS Federal Form 1040, 1040A or 1040-EZ U.S. Individual Income Tax Return
- Copies of all 2023 W-2s: Wage and Tax Statements for both the applicant and co-applicant
- If applicant and co-applicant file separately, we require both tax returns for the same tax year. State tax returns are not accepted
- Copies of all supporting tax schedules: If there is reported amounts on either of the following lines:
- Business – (Form 1040 Line 12) Attach Schedule C or C-EZ and Form 4562 Depreciation and Amortization
- Farm – (Form 1040 Line 18) Attach Schedule F and Form 4562 Depreciation and Amortization
- Rental Property – (Form 1040 Line 17) Attach Schedule E (page 1)
- S-Corporation – (Form 1040 Line 17) Attach Schedule E (page 2), Form 1120S (4 pages), Schedule K-1 and Form 8825
- Partnership – (Form 1040 Line 17) Attach Schedule E (page 2), Form 1065 (5 pages), Schedule K-1 and Form 8825
- Estates and Trusts – (Form 1040 Line 17) Attach Schedule E (page 2), Form 1041 and Schedule K-1
- Copies of all supporting documentation for household Non-Taxable Income – if applicable: Social Security Income, Welfare, Child Support, Food Stamps, Workers’ Compensation, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
IMPORTANT: If your tax return does not have W-2 wages because you are self-employed, please contact our Administrative Finance Assistant, Marianne Latini, ext. 122 or latini@cheverus.org for further instructions on getting an Accountant Prepared Profit Loss statement for 2023 in place of your 2023 W-2s
Secure Payment Options:
- Monthly Payments: Spread your tuition balance over 10 monthly installments
- Semi-Annual Payments: Pay your tuition in two installments
- Payment in Full: FACTS is a quick, secure method for paying your tuition balance in full

Scholarships at Cheverus
Military Service Scholarship
Our community and our nation are indebted to those who serve selflessly to defend and protect our rights and freedom. In recognition of hard-working families serving to protect our nation, Cheverus High School has established the Military Service Scholarship to provide financial assistance for incoming ninth grade Cheverus students who are daughters or sons of Active Military Service Personnel with demonstrated financial need. The Military Service Scholarship provides tuition assistance of $5,000 per year and receipt of this scholarship does not preclude the awarding of additional assistance as determined by the Tuition Assistance Committee.
First Responder Scholarship
Our community benefits immeasurably from the skills and expertise provided by those who are trained to render assistance at the scenes of accidents, disasters, and attacks. In recognition of hard-working families serving on the front-lines of emergency situations, Cheverus High School has established the First Responder Scholarship to provide financial assistance for incoming ninth grade Cheverus students who are daughters or sons of active First Responders with demonstrated financial need. The First Responder Scholarship provides tuition assistance of $5,000 per year and receipt of this scholarship does not preclude the awarding of additional assistance as determined by the Tuition Assistance Committee.
Diocesan Teacher Scholarship
Our community benefits greatly from those who devote their careers to educating our youth in the Catholic tradition. In recognition of hard-working families dedicated to Catholic education, Cheverus High School has established the Diocesan Teacher Scholarship to provide financial assistance for incoming ninth grade Cheverus students who are daughters or sons of full-time teachers in Maine’s Catholic Diocesan Elementary and Middle Schools with demonstrated financial need. The Diocesan Teacher Scholarship provides tuition assistance of $5,000 per year and receipt of this scholarship does not preclude the awarding of additional assistance as determined by the Tuition Assistance Committee.
